Bylo to až nečekaně snadné. Andre Agassi se konečně dočkal a smazal třináct let starou vzpomínku na nepovedené finále turnaje v Římě. Tentokráte americký tenista v italské metropoli dominoval a v boji o titul suverénně předčil Tommyho Haase 6:3, 6:3 a 6:0. Pro Agassiho je to již třetí letošní titul. Česá deblová škola osvědčila své kvality, když pár Damm, Suk porazil ve finále favority Blacka s Ullyetem dvakrát 7:5.

Agassi je vzor :Haas pays tribute to hero Agassi May 12, 2002
ROME (Reuters) - Losing Rome finalist Tommy Haas paid tribute to his conqueror Andre Agassi.
Haas, who lost 6-3 6-3 6-0 to a rampant Agassi in the final of the Masters Series event, admitted that the American was one of his idols as a child and said: "He still is.
"For anybody that has something to do with sport it's a great story," said the German, who was only 11 when Agassi last reached the Rome final in 1989.
"I've known Andre a long time. I had the chance to play with him at 13 at the Bollettieri Academy and I've been following his career.
"It's amazing how he's come back the last three, four years, so dedicated and so fit and really wanting to win every match he plays." Haas, 24, said Agassi set an inspiring example to the younger generation of players. "For me, it's something to look up to and believe in and a reason to always keep trying harder and getting fitter. "I think it just shows that no matter how old you are, as long as you're dedicated to it and working hard, you can pretty much do anything." Haas said he hoped that he could emulate Agassi by still playing in the game's elite aged 32. "It would be nice to see myself at that age, still competing as hard and playing this well. That would be a great pleasure."
